Too late to get Xbox 360…New one in 2010-2012?

Had one before, sold it. Never had LIVE. I don't want to shell out 0 for a new Xbox 360, only for it to be replaced in 2 years. Is it a bad time to get a new 360? Is a new one really going to come out in 2010-2012?
By the way, PLEASE no fanboy responses. Just to let y'all know, I love both the PS3/360, but I'm slowly preferring the Xbox.
Another thing I would like to add. I KNOW it's not too late to get one. I'm talking by MY standards. I don't want to just play it for 2 years. I should've have sold it.

Yeah, they will probably release a new Xbox around 2011-2012. The 360 has been out for over 4 years now, and the typical life-cycle of a game console is 5-6 years. I wouldn’t say it’s "too late" to get a 360 though. There is a massive library of games for it and there are still quite a few great games on the way.
It is possible one would come out in 2012, I don’t think the 360 was made for a longest enough shelf life. Not to sound like a fanboy but the PS3 was designed to last longer. It is just the difference in hardware that the systems have built in. As to 2010 I doubt a NEW one will come out. At most you will see what Sony did when they put out the Slim PS2, a Xbox 360 that is just a little smaller, but still the same system.
they say the PS3 is ment to last but honestly iv looked at both 360 and PS3 and to tell you the truth they both suck, but however they make up for it in their own way, like 360 has excellent online gaming. PS3 not so good there, the 360 console will be around for at least 5 or more years same with PS3 however once the 360 gets outdated the PS3 will take the lead and will have by then improved their stuff, so i would guess the ps3 will last longer. but dude remember life is short dont buy a PS3 just so you could play it til your like 24, i would say get the 360 why because its cheaper and still is a rockin console, and by the time it does go outdated you should by then move on from the whole gaming thing.
The Xbox 360 does not cost $300. The base model costs $199, which makes it the cheapest of the big 3. Because the 360 has such a large library of games and is the cheapest I would suggest getting it, however, I would suggest purchasing Xbox Live.
The newest Xbox 360 was just released on August 3rd for $199. The great thing about it is it comes ready for the Microsoft Kinect add-on that will allow gamers to play controller-free games. Kinect will come out in November 2010 – just in time for the holidays.
